Today I have a Video Tutorial to share with you .. I love to create stamped projects with Watercolor Paper and my samples today feature a watercolor wash background with stamping over them.
As I explained in my video, my dad, Jim Burns, is an amazing Watercolor artist and although I inhereted his love of color, texture, nature, composition, etc., I cannot draw or paint freehand to save my life, so, I USE STAMPS! 🙂
Yep, that's my dad! He is a mega-talented watercolor artist! He has been painting since he was a child! We are so blessed to have dozens of his paintings hanging in our home, and we love being able to enjoy his amazing talents!
Watch my video below for instructions on a fun and easy technique you can create using Watercolor Paper, ink pads and a clear acrylic block!
(if you are reading this in an email feed, please visit my blog view the video)
Thanks dad for your inspiration and sharing your talent with the world! You are amazing! Happy Early Father's Day.. I love you!
These are the cards featured on my video.. each one is done with a watercolor wash background and stamped in black ink when the wash is dry.

Once again, Patty, you have inspired me! Your talent and creativity are unsurpassed. As a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator myself for 10+ years, I have checked out a lot of blogs, and your blog is always tied for first place. Thanks for sharing your great watercolor techniques. Watercoloring is one of my favorite things to do and to share, too.
Would you please consider creating another calendar of your dad’s wonderful paintings for next year? Thanks!
These are great Patty! I finally got a chance to sit and watch it and I think I am going to CASE you for a class on this technique!
Patty – Thank you so much for sharing the watercolor technique today. I am certainly going to give it a try. I have always wished that I could paint, but I don’t have any talent for it. Have always loved this technique but your tutorial is great, showing how to incorporate it into the landscape instead of just a background piece. Your Dad is very talented!
One question – the card you show at the end of the video where you used The Open Sea on a Z-fold type card – is that card posted on your Blog anywhere? I couldn’t find a search box on your Blog to try to search for it. I would love to ‘Pin’ it as a reference to CASE that card – I just love that one!!
Wow, what a great video and tutorial. Loved seeing your dad’s paintings. How inspiring!
Wow, salt! Very cool.. Your father is so talented too! Thank you so much Patty for sharing that all with us! [HUGS}

Loved your tutorial! I didn’t realize you have such a talented father. His artwork is beautiful. I can see where you got inspiration in your life. Has he ever painted a work based on a photo from one of your trips?
How beautiful are those cards, you inspire me to try them. Your cards are all works of art in themselves and I can see that your father’s talent certainly has influenced you. How awesome to have such a wonderful painter in the family. My daughter has much of that talent and is a watercolor artist also—–but I am afraid it didn’t come from me (oh how I wish it did) as it must be so rewarding to accomplish such a beautiful painting. You have certainly got talent girl and I love love love all of your beautiful cards. Thank you so much for sharing them with all of us.
Gorgeous cards, Patty! Your father’s paintings are fabulous!
