I was inspired to create this card with the Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo and Mango Melody Pigment Sprinkles after making the Gorgeous Grape card shown in my video! If you missed it, Watch the Pigment Sprinkles Video HERE.

As mentioned in my video, my preference is to get the watercolor paper wet first, then sprinkle on the Pigment Sprinkles – see below…

After the Pigment Sprinkles on the wet watercolor paper are completely dry, you can stamp on it, die cut it or punch out shapes.

One of my favorite stamp sets is the “To a Wild Rose” stamp set, so I have used the flower and leaf stamp from that set to stamp on my dry Pigment Sprinkles watercolor backgrounds.  Once dry, I used the matching Wild Rose dies to die cut them out.  This set and dies come in a bundle, so you can save 10% if you buy the Wild Rose bundle #151073.

Similar to the Daisy Punch card I shared with you yesterday, I used a Thick Whisper White Top Fold base card, and stamped the Birch Background stamp in Soft Suede onto the White background.  I used a piece of Mango Melody script background paper from the 6×6 Brights paper stack and then tied a piece of Granny Apple Green ribbon around the card before adding my die cut flowers with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The “Hi Friend” greeting is found in the Above the Clouds stamp set and is stamped onto a Whisper White die cut from the Smooth Sailing dies.

How to Make Flowers with Pigment Sprinkles – Video Tutorial

I LOVE color.. that is such a huge reason that I craft!  The new Stampin’ UP! Pigment Sprinkles produce AMAZINGLY beautiful, vibrant color when you use them with Watercolor Paper and a spritz of water!  Today I have a Video Tutorial for you showing you how to make these colorful flowers with the Medium Daisy Punch and Pigment Sprinkles.

As you will see in my video below, there are lots of options when it comes to using your Pigment Sprinkles with watercolor paper.  My preference is to wet the paper first, then sprinkle on the Pigment Sprinkles… not only because it looks totally magical like fireworks, but also because it’s a little less messy this way.

Pigment Sprinkles are found on page 179, #149663, Watercolor Paper is found on page 169, #149612.

How to Use Pigment Sprinkles for a background:

  • Be sure to Watch the Video at the bottom of this post for more details
  • I prefer to wet my watercolor paper first with a Stampin’ Spritzer, then sprinkle the Pigment Sprinkles on the wet paper – less mess this way
  • If you prefer, you can sprinkle the Pigment Sprinkles first, then spritz the watercolor paper, but that tends to cause a dusting of the pigment sprinkles to “spray” around your work area
  • You can add more sprinkles at any time – but a little goes a long way
  • I like to flick some Wink of Stella onto the wet (or dry) watercolor paper to add sparkles
  • If you want to stamp first, use StazOn ink.  If you want to stamp when the watercolor paper is dry, you can use any ink
  • When completely dry, punch or die cut shapes
  • There are LOTS of other ways to use Pigment Sprinkles – this background technique is just one way to use them

After creating this beautiful Pigment Sprinkles background piece of watercolor paper with the Daffodil Delight, Mango Melody and Melon Mambo sprinkles, I flicked a bunch of Wink of Stella on it and then after it was dry, I punched as many Medium Daisy Punch images as I could.  I layered them together and used them on my card!

The leaves are stamped with the To a Wild Rose stamp set  and die cut with the dies (bundle #151073) and are colored with the Granny Apple Green and Daffodil Delight sprinkles, then when completely dry, I die cut them with the Wild Rose dies.

My base card is a Thick Whisper White top fold card, stamped with the Birch Background stamp in Soft Suede ink.  I layered a piece of Daffodil Delight Gingham from the Brights 6×6 stack #149613, tied it up with Crushed Curry Seam Binding Ribbon #149444, and stamped the greeting from the Friend Like You set, #149237 stamped onto a Tags & More tag, #149652.
