2016 Stamp & Scrap Cruise to the Caribbean

We enjoyed an amazing trip in October, cruising the Caribbean on the Liberty of the Seas with about 30 friends and fellow crafters!!  Jenn Gulch organized this amazing week-long crafting cruise and I am SO glad we went!!!  We enjoyed it so much we are already booked for the 2017 trip!! :)

2016 Stamping and scrapping paper crafting cruise with Stampin UP! supplies.

Above: Cindee, Jenn and I in the crafting room on the ship!!  Jenn prepared tons of amazing projects for us to create!!  Look at our cute bags below with all of our supplies.. it was so amazing and so much fun!!!

Over the course of the week, we could use the crafting room anytime we wanted to, but Cindee and I went in there on the "sea days" (days we were not in port).  I think we crafted about a total of 18 hours!!!  It was heavenly!!!

Above: all of the amazing Stampin' UP! products in our bag, from Jenn!

Below:  the projects we created over the course of the week:  40 cards, 2 scrapbook albums, 1 Christmas banner and a 12x12 framed Christmas collage!!!

2016 Stamping and scrapping paper crafting cruise with Stampin UP! supplies.

I will be sharing all the projects with you over the coming weeks, but thought you'd enjoy the overview of the week first!!

I cannot even tell you how much fun it was to have all of the projects prepped and ready.  For about 25 years I have been the one prepping the project packets for events, so this was just a dream vacation with my family and friends AND crafting!!!

2016 Stamping and scrapping paper crafting cruise with Stampin UP! supplies.

Many of the crafters brought family members or friends.  Below was most of our group.. I think a few are missing.

Cruise group 2016 stamp & scrap cruise liberty of the seas

We departed from the port in Galveston, TX, a port we have never cruised out of before.  So that was fun to see something new!!  We had 2 "sea days" before arriving in Roatan, Honduras, so we crafted both of those days, then we had 3 ports in a row.. Roatan, Belize and Cozumel.   The last day, coming back was another sea day to craft and pack (packing, boo.. hate that part because it means you are going home).

Patty's Million Dollar Achiever Highlight Video

Million dollar logo for Stampin' UP! sales

I am excited to share my Highlight Video from last December when I visited Stampin' Up! to celebrate my $1,000,000 career sales milestone!

We had the most amazing trip visiting the Stampin' UP! home office in Riverton, UT, and being spoiled with a wonderful driver picking us up and taking us everywhere, a beautiful suite at the Grand America hotel - complete with A DECORATED CHRISTMAS TREE! in our suite - and wonderful meals, celebrations, tours of home office, packing orders on the pick line, and a highlight for me, stamping with Sara at Shelli's house!!

You can see some of those highlights below in the video from Stampin' UP!, and I've also included a few photos below that of our wonderful trip!

It gives me goosebumps to think I was the 9th person in the 28 year history of Stampin' UP! to achieve this sales milestone!

Watch the Stampin' Up! Highlight Video below from my million dollar trip!

if you are unable to see the video in an email feed, click here to see it on my YouTube channel.

As you can see in the video, my husband and son, Eric and Jason, were with me on this trip, and that meant so much to me!! They have been my biggest cheerleaders and supporters over my 21 year Stampin' UP! career!

Here are a few highlight photos of our beautiful suite at the Grand America, our walk around the Temple Square grounds, and our time at the home office.   Our first day there was beautiful and sunny and we walked for miles, then that night KABOOM, one of the biggest snow storms to hit Salt Lake City in years!! Everything turned into a winter wonderland!!

Usually, for a $1,000,000 sales celebration, Shelli is part of the celebration, but when I visited the home office last December, she and Sterling were serving on a mission in Hawaii for the LDS church, so I was able to catch up with Shelli and Sterling when I visited Salt Lake again in April for the OnStage convention event.  Shelli, Sterling, Sean, Sara, Cindee and I had dinner at the Red Iguana which was delightfully fun!!

Anniversary Celebration and the Mystery Cruise Ship

I have a funny story for you today... a little break from stamping.

It's a rare occurrence that I take time off of my Stampin' Up! business... in fact so rare that we really didn't get to celebrate Mother's day or my birthday in May as we had planned.. so we made a point to take an afternoon off in June and we celebrated those 2 occasions as well as our 30th wedding anniversary at one of my favorite spots, the Spinnaker Restaurant in Sausalito, CA.

Spinnaker restaurant overlooking the San Francisco Bay, California

This lovely restaurant is on pilings out over the San Francisco bay and has a 360 degree view of Sausalito, Angel Island, Belvedere, Tiburon and San Francisco.

It's one of "those" restaurants where they have a valet to park your car... not the kind of place we go to very often, (but the kind of place I'd love to frequent more often!).

As soon as we were seated for our late lunch at a window seat, we looked out across the San Francisco Bay toward San Francisco, and this was our view.. a little hazy/foggy, but I'm sure you can make out a bit of the city:

San Francisco Bay from the Spinnaker restaurant, Sausalito California

Alcatraz is just on the left, partially behind that sailboat, and the Golden Gate bridge would be off to the right.

Then this conversation happened between our son Jason, and me:

Jason: "Oh, there is a cruise ship in port!"

Me: squinting.... squinting some more.. raising my eyebrow ... "there is?"

Jason: "Yes, it looks like a Princess Ship"

Me:  "Ok, I seriously cannot see a cruise ship in port and sure as heck couldn't tell you it's a Princess ship"

Jason:  "Ya, it has the white arch thing in the back, so I know it's a Princess Ship"

Now, I ask you ... am I just blind? or can you see it too?  I've even circled it below for you .. (no, not the little sailboat)... and yes, there actually is a Princess ship docked in port at San Francisco, I looked it up on the internet and it was the Grand Princess!

FACT:  Jason has AMAZING eyesight

FACT:  I don't.

Grand Princess in port in San Francisco, from the Spinnaker restaurant, Sausalito California

There were tons of tourists in Sausalito that day who had taken the ferry over to Sausalito from SF for the day.. shopping, eating, bicycling, .. it was crowded but delightful!  Perfect weather, amazing views and the best company in the world (my guys!) :)

Eric and Patty Bennett celebrating 30 years at the Spinnaker restaurant, Sausalito, CA

Eric and I each enjoyed delicious seafood plates for our lunch.. Jason had a burger (big news there!), and we shared this delightful berry dessert after lunch!

We walked for a few miles after that amazing lunch and enjoyed the sights in Sausalito.

Oh, and on our 30th anniversary, it was "bowling night" (league night for Eric and Jason) so between work and bowling, we met for a quick dinner at Caps in Brentwood, exchanged our cards to each other, and then I went along to cheer Jason and Eric in their summer bowling league.

If you missed the 30th anniversary card I made for Eric, you can see it HERE.

Hope you enjoyed that little vacation from stamping.  Hope this finds you well, and that your day is great!

Wow! Happy 30 Year Anniversary to Us!

Can it be? I married my sweetheart 30 years ago!?  Wow!!!

Happy Anniversary to my sweet hubby.. thanks for putting up with me all these years! :)

Eric and Patty 30 year wedding anniversary

Cheers to 30 more... I can't wait to see what adventures await us Mr. Bennett!

Here is the card I made for Eric.. I was excited to create this for him!  I've been thinking about what to make him for several months.  When I saw the new Large Letter framelit dies in the new Stampin' Up! catalog, I knew this is what I wanted to make!

I die cut "30 YEARS" with the Stampin' UP! large letter and large number framelits and my Big Shot, and put a collage of photos behind the cut out openings.  I hope he'll like it!!

30th anniversary card featuring Stampin' UP! large letter and large number framelits, die cut with my Big Shot. Stamped with First Sight stamp set, by Patty Bennett

I stamped around the die cut numbers and letters with my favorite swirly image, and a heart image from the First Sight stamp set. You'll find them on page 46 of the current Stampin' UP! catalog or online in the product photos below.

I stamped the heart image with Real Red ink on Whisper White cardstock, punched it out with the Sweetheart punch, then die cut Real Read hearts with the Sweet & Sassy heart framelits to perfectly frame the hearts!! :)

I did just a little embellishing with the new enamel shapes - Real Red from the Brights package and Pool Party from the Subtles package.

Here is the inside of the anniversary card:

30th anniversary card for Eric, inside.

Cheers to our 30th wedding anniversary! Eric & Patty Bennett

You may be wondering... how are we celebrating this special occasion!?  Well, since Tuesday nights are bowling league nights for Eric and Jason, they have bowling league tonight... soooooooo, I will be meeting them for dinner before bowling and then I'll tag along and cheer them on during their games tonight :)

Ya... romantic... right?  :)  LOL

Well, doesn't matter how we celebrate, just being together is the best and that's what counts!

Father's Day Painter's Palette Cards

I made fun Father's Day Cards for my dad and my hubby using the Stampin' UP! Painter's Palette stamp set!!  As some of you know, my daddy is an amazing artist, so I knew he'd love this idea!!  I cut out the center of the artist's easel and added photos to the cards!

The card on the left is for my daddy, and on the right for my hubby.  Isn't that a cutie photo of our little Jason about 24 years ago!?  :)  eeks, I could just kiss those little cheeks!!

Below are the stamp images in the Painter's Palette stamp set, and the Layering Square framlelit dies that nicely cut out the center of the easel area.  Find the Painter's Palette stamp set on page 119 of the new 2016 Annual Stampin' Up! catalog, and the square framelits in pg 193.

I printed a few photos and then decided which ones to use.  I cut them out with the square framlits since it was really easy to see which portion of the photo I wanted to use that way.

BELOW: Isn't that a cute saying: Love you, Papa Bear, day after day, year after year!  I combined stamps from 2 sets to create that saying on my punched out banner.  I used the Bear Hugs stamp set (pg 107 in the 2016 annual Stampin' UP! catalog) and the In the Meadow stamp set (pg 129 annual catalog).

How I get started with my Stampin' Up! - Memory Keeping with Project Life Happy Times kit by Patty Bennett #PLXSU

I work well with this system... organize my photos, grab my pocket pages, then go through the Project Life cards.   If you want to learn more about this system for starting your Project Life album, CLICK HERE to watch a video I created with Sara Douglass, Stampin' UP! CEO, as she explains 3 easy steps to starting your Project Life album.

Click here for more info on how I organize my Project Life cards for easy access at my Project Life station.

If I am wondering which Project Life Card Collection I want to use, I click on the Project Life card collections in the ONLINE STORE HERE, then I click on a card collection and click the MORE button then the + sign and I scroll through all of the card designs in that pack to give me a feel for whether or not I want to use that kit in my current album.  See the tips below for seeing all the cards in a pack.

Did you know there is a pretty easy way to see a quick view of all the cards in each Project Life Card Collection?  Follow the steps below after going to my Stampin' UP! online store here.

Best Mother's Day Gift Ever!

This is probably not the view of my garden you are used to seeing, but I just wanted to share what is making my heart so happy this Mother's Day weekend!!

If you've followed me for awhile, you know I lost my mom to cancer almost 10 years ago.  She was an avid gardener and loved her rose garden.  As a teenager, of course, I didn't really "appreciate" that, but over the years I grew to love her rose garden  and I knew that her Whiskey Mac rose bush was her favorite.  I tried twice to take a cutting from it, and it never grew.  I really wanted one in my garden, and looked and searched for nearly 10 years for one!

Fast Forward.. a couple months ago, my sweet hubby found a Whiskey Mac bush on ebay and urged me to buy it for Mother's Day!  I did.. it finally came a couple weeks ago.. we planted it... and I've been waiting.. and NOW, it finally has little growth spurts on it!! yay!

So yes, I know.. it's not very thrilling, but it thrills my heart to know that I will soon have a beautiful Whiskey Mac rose bush!!

And as a Happy Mother's Day wish to all the moms out there this weekend, I will share 2 lovely bouquets I cut from my garden a couple weeks ago.. I love bringing fresh flowers into my home from my garden!

No Foolin' - My Garden is Bloomin'

No tricks this April Fools Day... just some pretty spring flowers from my garden to share with you!

One of the things you mention to me over and over is that you enjoy photos of my garden.  I'm so glad you enjoy them and thought I'd show you what's blooming so far this year!

In my garden, I grow mostly roses and alstromeria.  You can see the beautiful yellow alstromeria above.. it's one of my faves! I think I have 4 colors of alstromeria.  I love to cut it and add it to my bouquets because it lasts a LONG time in a vase!!

Above: This is a Peace rose.. it's very happy in the sunshine... there are dozens of buds ready to bloom on this bush!

Above: A bunch of sunflower seeds planted themselves under the bird feeders.. so this year I just let them grow.. they are already all in bloom!!  Why did I think that sunflowers bloomed in the fall?

One of my backyard buddies was resting, watching me in the garden.. they are so funny...

Thank you for letting me share a little about me, and my garden.  I get asked all the time what my secrets are for gardening and success with roses .. truly I think it's the San Francisco Bay Area climate - perfect mix of warm, cool, rain and sun.. and yes, I do talk to them.. not sure if that helps.  I prune them sometime between Christmas and Super Bowl weekend (how's that for a funny schedule) and they are always still blooming so it kills me to cut them back, but boy does it make them come back with a roar of new growth!!

Happy 25th birthday to Jason!

Honestly.. everyone tells you ... "the years go by faster the older you get"... but how is it that 25 years have sped by since my sweet little baby Jason was born!?

I guess "they" were right!

Jason turned 25 last week and I thought I'd share one of the cards I made for him, but first a peek at my cutie when he was just a little :) .. actually, he really never was "a little" because he was over 10 lbs when he was born! :)

Baby jason bennett 1991

Of course being a significant birthday, I thought it would be fun to make him a card using the Large Number / Number of Years framelits!  It made him smile... that's truly my mission in life.. :)

Personalized 25th birthday card featuring Stampin' UP! Large Number framelits and balloon celebration balloon stamps and matching punch, Gate Fold Card by Patty Bennett

I added the die cut number 2 and 5 and punched balloons onto a Gate Fold Card and covered just about every inch of the cardstock with party patterned paper from the "It's My Party" paper stack and the "Cherry on Top" paper stack!

Personalized 25th birthday card featuring Stampin' UP! balloon celebration balloon stamps and matching punch, Gate Fold Card by Patty Bennett

Stamping the balloons in all different colors and punching them out was too fun.. I just love these festive balloons!  This is the Stampin' Up! color combo I used on this card:

The die cut numbers were created using the Large Numbers framelits (#140622) and Island Indigo cardstock (see below for details on making them glimmery!), and I stamped and punched lots of balloons using the Balloon Celebration stamp set and the matching Balloon Bouquet punch (get a 15% discount.. buy them together! #140810).  The polkadot balloons are punched out using one of the patterns in the Schoolhouse Designer Paper Package (#138187).

I wanted to glitz it up just a little.. so I swiped my Clear Wink of Stella pen over the 2 and the 5 Island Indigo cardstock and make it glimmery!! :)

As you can see I also lined the inside of the card with festive party print paper!!  (Stripes are from the "It's my Party" stack, and balloons are from the "Cherry on Top" stack - see below for easy ordering.. click any product photo to go to my online store).

I shared this photo collage (below) on Facebook on his birthday last week, but if you didn't see it, I thought I'd share it here ... I love that Jason has been drawing on blueprints with me, with Eric and with my dad ever since he was little.. now he works in the same Engineering office as Eric does.. so fun!!!

WHY I am doing Project Life in 2016 - My "Why" video

You've heard me chat about Project Life by Stampin' Up!, preserving our family memories and my commitment to that in 2016... and today I am sharing my "Why" with you in the VIDEO BELOW!

We all have memories, some of us have preserved them in some sort of album, some of us need to do that.. no matter what stage you are in, I hope you find this 2-day mini-series about organizing your photos and memorabilia and getting going with your own Project Life by Stampin' Up! albums helpful!

WATCH the Video below to learn WHY I'm passionate about getting this done!

If you cannot view the video, please click here to see it on my YouTube channel.

Tune in tomorrow for the video and all the details of my Project Life workspace makeover!

Order your fabulous Project Life Card Organizer at Stamp-n-Storage here!

I am so excited that this area is done and that I'm USING it and have completed 1 year of a Project Life album already!!

I'm working "in the past" and catching up with photos from the early 2000's.. I have about 10 -15  years of photos from our married life that need to be preserved, so I just finished up 2001 last week!  The memories are so fun to look back on when Jason was only 10 and in 5th grade!!

I've also got all those photos from the late 1800's to about 1980 from the video above, to be archived and preserved, too!

Several of you have asked me to share some sample pages from my albums.. so I am sharing a few today..

Patty's Project Life by Stampin' Up! pages with tips. Preserve your family photo memories with Project Life. #plxsu

Watch for the tips I am sharing on these pages.. it's fun to mix up your pocket pages and use a 12x12 pocket page for larger memorabilia, or crop your photos and mount them to a 4x6 Project Life card.

Patty's Project Life by Stampin' Up! pages with tips. Preserve your family photo memories with Project Life. #plxsu

I have also found that I take about 1/2 of my photos vertical and half horizontal, so, I need to mix up my pocket pages from the Variety Pack 1 (#135294 - here) in my layouts.

135294 variety pack project life pages pattystamps

It's great to include admission tickets and postcards in your Project Life pages, too!

If you are ready to get going and preserve some memories with Project Life by Stampin' Up!, watch the video I did with Sara Douglass as she shares the 3 easy steps it takes to get going!  WATCH OUR VIDEO here.

MY WHY... I am preserving our memories so that I don't leave my son with boxes and boxes of photos like this from my childhood, my mom and dad's early life, and my ancestors.

Merry Christmas Video Greeting from the Bennett family

Merry Christmas and best wishes to our dear family and friends in the US and all across the world!  Thank you to each of you who has sent us a Christmas card or greeting! We treasure each one and love to read about what you have been doing in 2015!

I have a quick VIDEO GREETING for you and a copy of our annual Christmas letter below if you are interested in catching up with us.

If you are unable to view the video above, click here.

Bennett family christmas greeting 2015

From our home to yours, Merry Christmas and blessings to you as you celebrate Christmas and the birth of Jesus!

As we reflect back on the past year, and think about the highlights we want to share with you, it becomes hard to narrow down 365 days into one letter, so I hope you will enjoy this quick recap of a few of our treasured memories of the past year!

JASON:

Jason bennett drafting job 2015The very exciting news for Jason in 2015 was that he was hired by the same Structural Engineering firm where Eric has been working for nearly 2 years!! Eric and Jason ride in to work together (it's a LONG commute - very typical for the San Francisco Bay Area) which gives them lots of father/son time together!

Jason has become an amazing addition to the team at DPAE and has taught himself AutoCAD, he has learned so much about structural drafting, he performs roof truss shop drawing reviews, does Title 24 calculations (California Energy Efficiency Code) and even writes custom AutoLISP codes for the engineers and drafters for their AutoCAD program!

I know they all enjoy Jason's helpfulness and of course his amazing sense of humor ... and funny t-shirt collection! :)

ERIC:

Eric bennett nissan maximaFun news for Eric... after nearly 15 years of driving his Avalon he got a 2016 Nissan Maxima... and wow is it DREAMY!

We had a Maxima back in the very early 1990's and have always thought about getting another one.. this one has all the bells and whistles and he even has some lady inside his dashboard who reads him incoming text messages!  You'll also notice it's 49er red. :)

Eric will celebrate 2 years with DPAE in February and has been an amazing asset to the company.  He told me they call him "the artifact" ... he is like the keeper of all the structural knowledge with his 35+ years of experience!

PATTY:

Patty bennett 1 million dollars sales stampin upI had several milestones this year, and the 2 most notable were that I celebrated 20 years as a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, and reached my $1 million in career sales milestone!  I was the 9th demonstrator in the 27 year history of the company to reach this level of sales!  We were treated to a 3 day stay in Utah at the Stampin' UP! home office just last week where they threw a huge party for us and welcomed us with cheers, gifts, amazing hospitality and even a beautiful snowy winter wonderland snowstorm! :) (read more about it here)

Building my business over the past 20 years through hundreds (thousands?) of in-person events, meeting new crafters, and then developing online relationships through my PattyStamps.com blog and social media has been a very rewarding and fulfilling journey!  I am so grateful that after a fabulous career in the engineering industry God opened this door for me and diverted my path to Stampin' UP!

OUR TRAVELS:

One of the perks I love the best about my job is the opportunity for travel.  I have been earning an annual free trip with Stampin' UP! since 2001, and in 2015 the 3 of us traveled to Hawaii compliments of Stampin' UP!  We were also able to spend a week in San Diego for a Stampin' UP! OnStage event, and then as I mentioned above, we were treated to an amazing stay at the Grand America in Utah just last week as we celebrated my one million dollar sales achievement!

Patty's Million Dollar Trip to Stampin' UP! - Stampin' Day with Sara Douglass

Million dollars stampin up pattystampsOh my goodness.. what a whirlwind, amazing, fantastic, fabulous 4 days in Utah!!!

We have arrived home from our Million Dollar Celebration and activities at the Stampin' UP! home office in Riverton, UT .. and our hearts and minds are so full of wonderful memories.. it was just the most amazing trip EVER!!

Celebrating Patty Bennett's Million Dollar Sales Achievement at Ruth's Criss with Sara and Sean Douglass
Jason, Eric & Patty Bennett with Sara & Sean Douglass

Stampin' UP! allows the Million Dollar sales achievers to request whatever they'd like to do and I asked to tour several departments at Stampin' UP! as well as have a stamping day with Sara - Interim CEO of Stampin' UP!.  I have watched Sara grow up over my 20 years as a Stampin' UP! demonstrator and we have become friends through the Stampin' Up! incentive trips and Founder's Circle retreats.. she is one amazing person, sweet, kind, funny, adorable and one smart cookie!! (oh and she dresses super cute, too!) :)

So.. I asked to have a stamp day with her at her house..  she quickly suggested that we stamp at her mom's house, even though her mom, Shelli, and her dad Sterling, are away serving a mission trip for their church.  I didn't hesitate one second and said SURE! I'd love to stamp at your mom's house!!

(heart pounding with excitement.. stamping WITH Sara AT Shelli's house.. are you kidding me!?) :) :) :)

Patty and Sara Project Life million dollar trip Stampin UP

I asked if we could create a Project Life album with the photos from the first day of our visit at Stampin' UP!... and of course they made it happen!!!  The amazing photographers at Stampin' UP! took tons of pix on day 1 of our trip to the home office and got them all printed for us... then together, we put them in an album the next morning as shown above!!

While we were crafting... guess who Facetimed us... Shelli!! What a treat to say hi to her and also to Sterling, all the way from Hawaii!! ;)   Thank you Shelli!  It was so fun to have you "there with us" for a few minutes, and thank you for letting us use your amazing home!

2015-12-15 10.58.17

Ben shot a video of us while we crafted, and I'll be sharing that with you after the holidays!!  (sooooo excited!!!!)

Jon was there too, taking photos of us, Merilee grabbed my phone and took photos, so we have a very well documented time together!! (thank you, thank you!)

That afternoon, Dirk (one of the amazing photographers at Stampin' UP!) showed me how they photograph all the catalog samples and we did a photo shoot of all my Project Life album pages... I'll be sharing those with you soon!

I was so excited to see exactly how easy Sara made our Project Life experience as we created our album.. it was so fun!!!  I have been hesitant to start my Project Life journey, and I don't know what I've been waiting for!! I have multiples of all of the boxes of Project Life by Stampin' Up! cards, lots of albums, and tons of (empty!!) pages to fill (and 80 billion photos).. NOW I feel totally prepared to go forth and document our lives!!

Patty bennett project life challenge stampin up

I will be sharing all the pages of our album as well as lots more photos with you over the coming weeks, but just wanted to get this post on my blog and encourage you to GET READY TO DOCUMENT YOUR LIFE with me... so grab your Project Life supplies in the online store, select some photos, and let's do this together in 2016!!

Stampin' UP! offers several different varieties and themes of Project Life cards, albums, and pages to document your photos and memorabilia. (See ALL Stampin' Up!
