Thanksgiving Pumpkin Pie punch art!

I was strolling along on Pinterest getting some ideas for upcoming projects and I saw this adorable idea for Punch Art Pumpkin Pie by Kirsteen Gill!  I knew I had to make this, BECAUSE my hubby's FAVORITE dessert in the world is Pumpkin Pie!!  So one of these cards is for him!!  The Stampin' UP! Layering Circle framelits are the perfect tool for this paper crafting project!

If you know me, you know that I don't particularly like to spend time in the kitchen.. so this is the ONLY way I'll be "making" any pumpkin pie this year :)

Pumpkin Pie Punch Art Thanksgiving cards featuring Stampin' UP! Layering Circles, Petals & Paisleys paper and Pretty Paisleys embossing folder by Patty Bennett

This is so much fun to make and super easy if you have the Amazing Layering Circle framelits from Stampin' Up!  When I first saw the 3 sets of layering framelits in the catalog... I was thinking... hmmmm will I really use them?   OH MY GOSH... I use the Layering Circles, the Layering Ovals and Layering Squares ALL THE TIME!! What a time saver and such an easy way to make perfect layers and scallops, too! See them all on page 193 in the current annual catalog.  Need a catalog?  Let me know!

How to make Pumpkin Pie Punch Art featuring Stampin' UP! Layering Circles framelits by Patty Bennett

I used the Layering Circle framelits (see them on page 193 of the current 2016 Stampin' Up! annual catalog, or HERE online), and the cardstock listed above in the photo to cut circles and the scalloped layer of "whipped cream".  Truth be told, the entire pie would be covered with Cool Whip if it were my hubby's pie... but then you wouldn't see the pumpkin part.. so I had to make it like this. :)   I sponged the Pumpkin Pie and Crumb Cake layer with Pumpkin Pie and Soft Suede ink and my sponge daubers to give it some dimension.  I also put Clear Wink of Stella on the whipped cream scallop, but it's probably hard to see in the photo.

Pumpkin Pie Punch Art Thanksgiving cards featuring Stampin' UP! Layering Circles, Petals & Paisleys paper and Pretty Paisleys embossing folder by Patty Bennett

You could leave the pie "whole" or cut a slice like I did with my paper snips.  I put mine on a Silver Foil circle so that it might look like a pie tin.

Pumpkin Pie Punch Art Thanksgiving cards featuring Stampin' UP! Layering Circles, Petals & Paisleys paper and Pretty Paisleys embossing folder by Patty Bennett

For the top portion of my cards, I embossed a piece of Whisper White or Very Vanilla with the Pretty Paisleys embossing folder (pg 47 of the 2016 Holiday catalog or HERE online), and also decorated each card with patterned paper from the Petals & Paisleys specialty designer series paper pack, also on pg 47 or HERE in my ONLINE STORE.

I stamped the Give Thanks greeting from the Suite Seasons stamp set on pg 43 in the 2016 Holiday Catalog from Stampin' UP! in Cajun Craze ink, and tied some Kraft Rope around a couple of them (pg 13, #141996).

With that... have a wonderful day, being thankful for all of your blessings!!

Happy Thanksgiving from my family to yours!

Pretty Pines Pinecone Embellishments - Paper Pumpkin Fall Shaker Cards

I loved creating the October Stampin' Up! Paper Pumpkin Shaker Card kits!! What a great kit!!  I also loved embellishing them with some die cut pinecones from the Pretty Pines thinlit die selection, new in the 2016 Holiday catalog from Stampin' Up! Find them on page 19 in the holiday catalog, or HERE in my online store.

Shaker cards are difficult to photograph because you can't see them "shake" :) and the window sheets have a lot of glare, but I hope you enjoy these ideas!  In addition to creating the cards the way the instructions in the kit suggest, I also used Pumpkin Pie Glimmer paper, Gold Glimmer paper and Gold Foil paper behind the leaf die cut shapes, just for some fun interest!

After I punched out the leaf shapes on the cards, I used a sponge brayer to color them various fall colors and added them to the front of my cards.

Stampin Up! Totally Trees Cards

Well, somehow it is November already... I seriously don't have any idea how that happened.. wasn't it just summer???

That crazy thought aside... it's time to think fall and send cards to family and friends to celebrate this time of year when we reflect on being especially thankful for our loved ones.

Stampin' Up! Totally Trees Fall Cards by Patty Bennett, featuring Halloween Scenes fence die cut.

I created 2 cards with the Totally Trees stamp set to celebrate the Fall season.  The Totally Trees stamp set is found on page 48 in the Holiday catalog, and has 27 pieces, so that you can create dozens of different trees!  See it HERE online.

I stamped on Whisper White cardstock, about 2-3/4" x 4" and layered it onto colored cardstock then onto a Whisper White note card.  See them here.

Stampin' Up! Totally Trees Fall Card by Patty Bennett, featuring Halloween Scenes fence die cut.

Both of my fall cards today feature the cute fence die cut from the Halloween Scenes Edgelit die set, and fall trees stamped with the Totally Trees stamp set.

For the card above I wanted a blue sky but didn't want to color over the trees, so I masked them with pieces of Post-It notes before sponging some Pool Party ink over the top portion of the card with my Sponge Dauber.

The greeting on the card above is from the Cookie Cutter Christmas stamp set.

Mask the trees with Post It Notes and sponge the sky. Stampin' Up! Totally Trees Fall Card by Patty Bennett, featuring Halloween Scenes fence die cut.

I left the sky white on the card below  but did sponge the edge of the white piece with Pumpkin Pie ink and my sponge dauber.

To stamp the leaves on the tree, I used one stamp and inked it in different colors each time I stamped it. I used Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie and Cajun Craze.

Stampin' Up! Totally Trees Fall Card by Patty Bennett, featuring Halloween Scenes fence die cut and Warmth & Cheer plaid background paper.

Stampin' Tip: I loved the plaid pattern in the Warmth & Cheer paper stack but I toned down the whole pattern with some Crushed Curry ink on my Sponge Brayer before putting the layers together.

What do you think?  Great way to change the look of the paper!!

Sponge Brayer on the Warmth & Cheer plaid background paper for a different look! Stampin' Up! Totally Trees Fall Card by Patty Bennett, featuring Halloween Scenes fence die cut.

And of course.. what card is complete without some Wink of Stella glimmer??  I put dabs of Gold Wink of Stella on the leaves on this card.. super pretty in person.. difficult to capture on film.

Add Gold Wink of Stella to the Stampin' Up! Totally Trees Fall Card! by Patty Bennett, featuring Halloween Scenes fence die cut.

I hope you enjoyed those... they turned out really pretty.  Wish you could see the gold shimmer on them!

Petals & Paisleys Fall cards

In Everything Give Thanks!!  Yes!  I am sure you are thankful for someone special!!  Why not make them a sweet little card and tell them!!   These Fall Scarecrow cards featuring the Stampin' Up! Petals & Paisleys designer paper are perfect little note cards to keep on hand and pass out as you want to give a special thank you to a teacher, co-worker, bank teller, barista, hair dresser, neighbor, etc.!

Fall Note Cards featuring Stampin' Up! Cookie Cutter Halloween scarecrows and Petals & Paisleys designer paper by Patty Bennett

I started out with the Stampin' Up! Whisper White and Crumb Cake note cards (they measure 3-1/2" x 5") and added pieces of designer paper from the Petals & Paisleys specialty paper pack.  Each note card features a watercolored scarecrow from the Cookie Cutter Halloween stamp set and a greeting.

Fall Note Cards featuring Stampin' Up! Cookie Cutter Halloween scarecrows and Petals & Paisleys designer paper by Patty Bennett

I found that I liked the addition of the In Color Doilies, because some of them coordinate well with the color palette in the Petals & Paisleys paper pack!

Stampin' Tip:
Always stamp first, then turn your punch over and punch out your image.  You are much more likely to have success getting the image perfectly punched out!

Stampin' Tip! Always stamp your images first, then flip the punch over and center your image before punching!

Amazing Faux Watercolor Fall Leaf Cards

Watercolor like a pro... it's easy with Faux Watercoloring!

You must trust me on this ... these cards are 100x prettier in person than the photos convey.. these Faux Watercolor Fall Leaf cards are GORGEOUS!  My friend Cindee taught me how to make these and they are wonderful! They are stamped with the Vintage Leaves stamp set from Stampin' Up!

Faux Watercolor technique featuring Stampin' UP! Vintage Leaves stamp set, aquapainters and wink of stella. www.PattyStamps.com

This Faux Watercolor technique is really so simple..

1.  Stamp your Vintage Leaves stamp images with Stampin' Up! classic ink pads on Watercolor paper

2.  Use your Aquapainter to apply water to the stamped image

3.  Paint over the wet leaves with the Clear Wink of Stella glimmer pen

4.  Splatter some Gold Wink of Stella on finished project

It's best to do steps 1-3 quickly, or, do 1 leaf at a time.. don't let the stamped image completely dry before adding water.

You can also stamp off some of the images first, so that some are lighter and with less detail.

Watercolored Fall Leaves with Gold Wink of Stella

Remember those GORGEOUS Fall watercolored leaves I shared with you in a video HERE?  Well, I had a small pile of leaves left over after creating 42 cards, and I made this beautiful fall card with the left over leaves!

Leaflet Framelit Fall Leaf card idea featuring watercolored leaves by Patty Bennett and Stampin' Up! supplies.

The background polkadot paper has tiny copper dots and I think it's just such a perfect accent for this card.  It's from the Petals & Paisleys Designer Paper pack.  (find it on pg 47 of the 2016 Holiday catalog, #142017).  I layered that onto a piece of Tangerine Tango  striped paper from the Brights DSP stack #138434, og 174 in the annual catalog.  It's all layered onto a top-fold Watermelon Wonder card... it's it amazing how all those colors mix and create a beautiful fall colored palette?

To add to the gold and copper metallic accents, I tied a bow with 4 strands of Gold Baker's twine from the Trio Pack on page 16 in the Holiday catalog (#141999), and created gold speckles on the leaves with my Gold Wink of Stella pen.

Leaflet Framelit Fall Leaf card idea featuring watercolored leaves by Patty Bennett and Stampin' Up! supplies.

Best Wishes for the Season is stamped in Cajun Craze on Very Vanilla cardstock and you'll find that greeting in the Holly Berry Happiness stamp set (#142061, pg 27 in the Holiday catalog).

Sheltering Tree Happy Fall!

Remember this stamp set? Sheltering Tree!  I LOVE this set.. I couldn't stop using it when it first debuted in the Occasions Stampin Up! catalog a couple years ago!!

I decided to try a Fall card with this set and I love how it turned out!  The background is easy!  Create this sunset look by lightly brayering ink using the Stampin' UP! Sponge Brayer with Cajun Craze and Daffodil Delight ink! Let the 2 colors blend in the middle!

Stampin' Up! Sheltering Tree fall sunset card created with Sponge Brayer background by Patty Bennett

I stamped the leaves of the tree in several colors: Cajun Craze, Calypso Coral, Crushed Curry and Pumpkin Pie. I just kept adding layers of stamped leaves until I was happy with the effect.  The ground stamp is also in this stamp set and I stamped it over and over in Cajun Craze ink.

I think the tree trunk is kind of the key to this card... rather than have the trunk and branches all one dark color, I inked the whole stamp in Early Espresso, then lightly stamped ink off the branch portion on my grid sheet, then stamped the whole stamp on my Whisper White cardfront.  That way the branches appear to be mixed in among the leaves and not so dark like the branches are on top.   Hope that makes sense?

Sheltering Tree stamp set is found on page 96 in the annual 2016 Stampin' UP! Catalog,  #137163.

If you are wondering about the pretty watercolored leaves, WATCH THE VIDEO HERE to see how I created those!

Stampin' Up! Sheltering Tree fall sunset card created with Sponge Brayer background by Patty Bennett

The "Thoughts for you" greeting is found in the Best Birds stamp set, pg 53 of the 2016 Annual catalog.  I added a Cajun Craze enamel heart to the greeting to express some extra love to the recipient, punched the end with the Banner Triple punch and mounted it onto my card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Fall Leaf Watercolor Wash Background Video Tutorial

I am super excited to share a video tutorial with you today, so that you can create these gorgeous fall leaves and make these fun fall cards using your Stampin' UP! watercolor paper, reinkers, an Aquapainter and a Gold Wink of Stella pen!

Stampin UP! fall leaf cards featuring watercolor wash background and the Leaflet framelits. Watch the video tutorial for all the details from pattystamps.com

I couldn't stop making these cards with the Leaflets framelits! I made about 30 cards.. it's so fun to watercolor these pretty backgrounds and die cut these beautiful leaves!

All of the cards feature the Woodland embossing folder in the background and the pretty leaves are attached on top of the folder background.  Watch the video below for all the details and tips for adding the leaves! :)

Stampin UP! fall leaf cards featuring watercolor wash background and the Leaflet framelits. Watch the video tutorial for all the details from pattystamps.com

The Give Thanks greeting is new, from the 2016 Holiday catalog, page 43, in the Suite Seasons stamp set.  I stamped it in Early Espresso ink onto Very Vanilla cardstock, and punched the left end with the Banner Triple Punch.

The ribbon is 2 layers: 5/8" burlap ribbon and 1/4" natural trim gold ribbon, both on pg 178 in the annual catalog.  I find the burlap kind of bulky for knots or bows, so I just put a strip of it on the card.. you'll see that in the video. Then I tied the gold natural ribbon around this top-fold card.

One thing you'll notice as you make these, every one of these cards turns out different.  I just love them!  Watch the video below to see how I created the waterecolor backgrounds and also a tip for die cutting the watercolor paper and the Pumpkin Pie glimmer paper.

Watercolor Wash Background Leaves:

  • wet both sides of the watercolor paper
  • apply ink in drops or dabs to one side
  • splatter more ink to the same side
  • when dry, splatter Gold Wink of Stella onto the watercolored paper
  • die cut with Leaflet Framelits and Botanical Builder leaf framelits
  • apply to card or crafting project

Find all the details in the video above in this blog post.

You'll find all of the Stampin' Up! supplies you'll need for this project at the bottom of this blog post.

I hope you will give these a try, and if you need any of these supplies, just click on any of the product photos to go to my online store.

Don't you just love how they all come out different?  I made over 30 of these and each one is totally different!

I started with a Whisper White or Crumb Cake note card for all of these cards, and added pieces of the Halloween Night designer paper to them.   I also added some 2015-2017 In Color Doilies to most of the cards.. the colors went really well!!

I wrapped a strip of the Halloween Night paper around the cello bag after slipping the candy inside, then wrapped the Halloween Baker's twine around that.  The excess part of the bag is just folded over and secured in the back.

Before tying the bow, I added the mini tassel!  :)

The Pumpkin Pie Glimmer bats are die cut with the Halloween Scenes Edgelit dies (page 52 Holiday Catalog).

Excuse me.. but these tassels are WAY Too fun!!  Don't they just add the cutest touch to this package!?  It really shows that you care about someone when you take a moment to add a little extra somethin' to their Halloween Treat!

Cookie Cutter Halloween Scarecrow Card

  • SPECIAL SALE:   click HERE to read about the SALE ITEMS valid Sept. 1 - 7

Fall is nearly here! I cannot believe it's September already!!  So I thought I would share a cute little fall scarecrow with you that I created with the Cookie Cutter Halloween stamp set (pg 53 in the new 2016 Holiday catalog from Stampin' Up!) and the matching Cookie Cutter punch (pg 6, #140396).

Stampin' UP! Cookie Cutter Halloween stamp set - Fall Scarecrow card featuring the Serene Scenery background paper by Patty Bennett at www.PattyStamps.com

I stamped the scarecrow onto a piece of Thick Whisper White cardstock in Archival Black ink, then colored him with the Stampin' Write markers shown above.  For the head, I didn't use markers.. I used the AquaPainter shown above dipped in a tiny bit of Sahara Sand ink.  I think I also dabbed some color on his shirt with the aquapainter and the Cajun Craze marker.  Colors used: Marina Mist, Real Red, Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry & Sahara Sand.

My sweet little note card is a Crumb Cake Note Card (pg 176, #133766) with a 3"x5" piece of Serene Scenery paper applied to the front to make it appear that my scarecrow is in the fields guarding the crops! :)

Crafting Tip: create a woodgrain look with the Stampin' UP! Timeless Texture stamp! by Patty Bennett, www.pattystamps.com

 TIP!  See photo above..

To make the pole that my scarecrow is on, I cut a 3/8" skinny strip of Kraft cardstock and then stamped it several times with both Early Espresso and Soft Suede ink and the Timeless Texture stamp shown above!

Stampin' UP! Cookie Cutter Halloween stamp set - Fall Scarecrow card featuring the Serene Scenery background paper by Patty Bennett at www.PattyStamps.com

You might think the coloring on the shirt is kinda messy.. but that was intentional.. I wanted him to look a little tattered from being out in the weather so it's watercolored with a bit of a dabbing motion to look kind of worn.

You'll find the Delightful Dijon ribbon in a 3-pack on pg 47 of the Holiday catalog (#142021), and it's a great compliment to the fall colors on this card!

The crow is also in the Cookie Cutter Halloween stamp set, and is cut out by hand with Paper Snips.

Easy card, fun to color, easy to punch out.  :)

The Happy Hello stamp (also in Archival Black ink) is from the Tin of Cards stamp set.. one of the BEST stamp sets you can invest in!!  Click Here to see it!
