Some of my very fondest memories as a child are of summers spent at the beach in Southern California – Portuguese Bend Club to be exact! So one of the first stamp sets I bought from the 2016 Stampin' Up! catalog was the Seaside Shore set, paired with the By The Shore designer paper and the Seaside embossing folder!! What a great suite of Nautical products!
I cut 3 pieces of the By the Shore paper for this card.
- 4×4 piece of the wavy pattern
- 3/4" x 4" blue denim pattern
- 2" x 4" piece of the coral pattern
All pieces are layered onto my folded Dapper Denim card.
One of the techniques I wanted to highlight on this card was STAMPING ON THE DESIGNER PAPER. So you will see several places that I stamped on this paper.. Did you notice all the places I stamped onto the "By the Shore" paper?

The other thing that I tried on this nautical card was embossing the "By the Shore" paper after I stamped the bubbles! I love the Seaside Textured Embossing Folder on this card! What do you think.. with or without the embossing?
I stamped the bubbles first, before embossing. The bubbles are from the new "Playful Background" stamp set, on page 121 in the 2016 Catalog, #141290.
The Seaside embossing folder goes so well with that printed paper from the By the Shore designer series paper pack!!! You'll find the embossing folder on page 92 and on page 195, item #141481. The designer paper is on pg 92 and 173, #141640.
The fish were stamped in Dapper Denim or Calpyso ink onto Whisper White cardstock, and after they were completely dry, I added some color with my Stampin' Write Markers in Daffodil Delight, Calypso Coral, Peekaboo Peach and Soft Sky. I also colored over them with the Clear Wink of Stella pen. Never hurts to add a little shimmer to your stamped card 🙂
For the Fish that is partly green and partly blue… I inked 1/2 the stamp in Wild Wasabi, and 1/2 the stamp in Dapper Denim and then stamped it on the Whisper White paper – fun, huh?
I cut the fish out with my paper snips and adhered them to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

That embossing folder adds so much detail to the card! These cards are great because of all the details to notice and fun colors. You put these products together so well!
Good morning Patty, I really love your card. This would make a nice card for masculine birthdays. Thats the only cards i dread making because I find making masculine crads a challenge for me. This card would be great. I love them both but YES I love the embossing folder. It really adds to the card. Makes it look like they are swimming through waves. Another cool thing you have taught me here is the stamping on the DSP. Very clever idea and also stamping the fish and coloring over them with the markers. I’ve started writing down all your tips so I don’t forget. I meant to order the the Playful Backgrounds stamp set but forgot to. I love that background set, so it will be on my next order. Thanks Patty for sharing your beautiful card. I also have problems making cards for young kids. It’s hard to find stamp sets for them. My youngest grandkids are 3,5,7 and a boy 8. What a struggle for me. If you have any ideas could you please HELP….LOL,,,,, have a great day.
Your card is just “swimmingly” awesome!! 😉 Love it Patty!
I love your cards, Patty, and the embossing is fantastic! It adds so much dimension! Thank you for sharing. I loved this suite the moment I saw it! Can’t wait to try your card!
Love this stamp set and the DSP. I prefer the card with the embossing folder. It just adds the right amount of dimension.
