Holiday Cookie Recipes - My Digital Studio

So....... my friends who know me well know how BAD my EYESIGHT IS... even with really strong contacts AND crazy prescription reading glasses over my contacts most of the time I have a really difficult time reading almost anything.  ESPECIALLY RECIPE CARDS...  sooooooo... I decided to make my own ... um... RECIPE PAGES... :)

these are 8-1/2"x11" pages I made up in My Digital Studio with print large enough for me to see and photos to remind me of the yummies. :) Feel free to print these for your use if you wish.

Button Bracelets!

OH my gosh.. these are too cute!! Go GRAB YOUR STAMPIN' UP! BUTTONS and have fun!!

I got this idea from Jill Olsen's blog, so I grabbed all my SU! buttons, stretchy cord and a beading needle and had fun!

Button bracelet 1  Button bracelet 2

For the one on the left, I followed Jill's directions and for the one on the right I made up another pattern..  see below for details.

SUPPLIES:

.5mm stretchy cord, beading needle and 30 buttons

Buttons

Supplies 1

I had never used a "beading needle" before.. it's great for the stretchy cord! The "eye" is in the middle of the needle - you spread the needle apart and slip the stretchy cord thru it and it shuts around the cord.

Supplies needle 2

Buttons 1 Lay your buttons out as shown at left... 10 medium, 10 large with 10 "flower" or small buttons on top of the large ones.

The instructions called for 30 buttons as noted above. I found that I only needed 9 of each size to fit my wrist nicely.  I have fairly large wrists, so you may want to stop when you have strung 8 of each size and wrap it around your wrist and then add more as needed.

Cut approx. 26" to 30" of stretchy cord and begin stringing your buttons, leaving about a 3" tail.

here is how I strung them - the cord comes up from the bottom and thru the large and flower button, then back down, then down thru the med. button, back up thru the med. button, up thru the large and flower button, etc.

Buttons 1a

When you start to push them all together, it looks like this:

Buttons 1b

After stringing 9 of each size it looks like this from the front:

Buttons 1c

and looks like this on the back:

Buttons 1e

Side view:

Buttons 1d
Wrap it around your wrist to see if you like the length using 8 of each, 9 of each or 10 of each or more.

then pull it into a circle and tie the cord into a couple knots:

Buttons 1f
THEN run the excess stretchy cord BACK THRU ALL THE HOLES again, and tie the ends or use a crimp bead.  This is where you will find that the beading needle is soooooooooo helpful!

Button bracelet 1

I also wanted to try it with the big buttons being the bottom layer... I don't quite like it as well, but it's just a different look:

Buttons 2b

Buttons 2c

For the above 2 bracelets I mixed and matched buttons from the following packages:

Deck the Halls Big Designer Buttons, Holiday mini, #121002 (ONLY AVAILABLE FOR A FEW MORE DAYS!!! CLICK HERE to order now!)

Merry Christmas - Collage card

Here are two of the ideas I started out with for our Christmas Card this year....  I ended up going a totally different direction with our card... I'll blog that in a couple days... but thought I'd share this idea anyway.

Chrsitmas collage 1

This is the CHRISTMAS COLLAGE background stamp in WHITE over DECK THE HALLS DSP.

Now you guess ... is this MDS or is it SIP (stamps, ink and paper)?  :)

Then I changed the background paper from a green print to a red one...

Christmas collage 2

did you see what I did to the word JOY ... I added a wreath over the O  :)

Well.. it's fun playing with different ideas each Christmas... hope you are enjoying all the busy-ness of Christmas preparations!

My Digital Studio PENGUIN Christmas Tags!!!

Mds lg penguin tag For those of you who have checked out my blog over the past couple of Christmas seasons... you KNOW I love penguins... my son and I collect penguin ornaments and stuffed animals to display at Christmas.  SOOOOO Naturally I HAD to make a Penguin using My Digital Studio... it's too fun!!

I made it using circles and ovals (punch shapes) and the Ornament punch shape upsidedown for the hat. My inspiration came from the VERY talented Kay Sha here.

The snow is the "hand torn" Torn Edges stamp set in white with a shadow, and the trees are from the HOLLY & JOLLY elements.

As you may know, Stampin' Up! offered an ORNAMENT for sale this year for demonstrators... check out how I changed mine:

This is how it comes in the package:      and this is what I did to it:

I designed the tag in My Digital Studio and then imported it several times onto one sheet in Word at different sizes and printed it.
