And the WINNER is...

Thanks for all your comments about what you suggest putting in the center of the Jumbo Grommets!! They are LOTS of fun and you all made FABULOUS suggestions (see bottom of post for the list)!!!

The WINNER OF THE FREE PACKAGE OF GROMMETS is.....

I haven't tried them yet either, I would tie ribbon through the center but also a piece of coordinating dsp in the center would look good too. So many possibilities. Thanks for the chance to win some.

Most of you suggested ribbon (in a knot or bow) in the center, other suggestions were:  DSP, Pretties flower, crystal effects with glitter or beads, pearl, vintage jewelry piece, photo of a loved one, a gem, rhinestone brad, jumbo eyelet, designer brads, corduroy buttons, and more! And you liked my Build A Brad idea too!

I'm glad I posted the Tutorial on these.. it was comforting to know I am not the only one who was intimidated by these and/or didn't know how to use them.  Boy, are they easy!

Flower Pot Card - Tutorial

DSC07457 copy I was making a card for a swap and I had to use the new hostess set called Kind and Caring Thoughts... I got the vision of the stems coming out of a pot... so... I needed a pot...

Here is the finished card:

DSC07498 copy

I used the new Dusty Durango cardstock for the pot and the matching Dusty Durango polkadot ribbon.  I also used the Dusty Durango MARKER (Whooohoooo - In Color Markers!) and an old olive marker to ink the stamp.  The greeting is also from that hostess set, stamped in Soft Suede, and is punched out with the new "Modern Label" punch.  The stems are stamped on Sahara Sand and mounted on Soft Suede.

OK>> Now.. how to make the pot:

DSC07445 copy

turn so that the 4" direction goes "side to side":

align paper as shown below in your cutter, then cut:

Flip paper over, align as shown and cut other side:

Now you have this shape:

Scallop the top edge if desired:

Fold scalloped flap down and you have a cute pot!

The pot has a neat speckled/stippled finish from the brayering.. makes it look like terra cotta!

After I made all the swaps, I made one stamped on Whisper White and I really like it on white too!

Thanks for visiting!

Kind Thoughts Brocade Stencil and Jumbo Grommet Tutorial

I was having fun with the Kind Thoughts Brocade Stencil again.. this time with one of the new In Colors, "Soft Suede".  Yummy color, isn't it?  (stenciled and stamped on a Sahara Sand Top Note Die).

DSC07509 copy

As you can see, I added one of the Jumbo Grommets with a Build A Brad in the center...I HAVE A CONFESSION... I was kind of afraid of these Grommets so I didn't use them until last week!! GEESH!!  How stupid silly is that??????????

DSC07512 copy

But these Jumbo Grommets are sooooooooooooooooooo easy to use!!!

DSC07537 copy

They come in 4 colors to a pack (white, vanilla, black and silver).

See those little "teeth"?  That's how we're going to set it...

DSC07539 copy

Place the grommet onto your card and place them both on top of the Black Foam mat that comes in the Mat Pack:

DSC07540 copy

Then.. how easy is this.. just PUSH WITH YOUR FINGERS!!

DSC07542 copy

Flip it over and push down those little legs with your Bone Folder!

DSC07543 copy

DSC07547 copy

OK>> so HOW EASY IS THAT? What was I so afraid of??

You can add a Build A Brad, or a decorative brad,or a rhinestone brad, or a button in the center if you wish.. lots of possibilities!!

Want to win a free package of them??  Leave me a comment and tell me what you like to put in the center of the Jumbo Grommets and I'll pick a random winner on Saturday at noon (CA time) and send you a pack!  Leave your full name and email address IN YOUR POST to be eligible (so I can contact you).

Using up my Left-Overs

No... not left-overs from the fridge... left-over stamped pieces sitting on my desk :)

The bleached background piece was leftover from this technique class and I added the stamped flower from "Friends 24-7" (watercolored with ink and blender pens) and the greeting from "Great Friend" framed in some Vanilla Hodgepodge Hardware... I think it came together well..

Happy Father's Day!

Just thought I'd share a quick look at one of the things I made for my DH for Father's Day... enjoy!

and on the inside:

It's actually kind of ironic that I'd make him this card with the lawn mower since we have let our grass die due to the water shortage here!  LOL

Here is a closer look:

This fun set is on pg 20 in the Occasions Mini Catalog.  I thought it was perfect for Father's Day!

Blog Tour! brought to you by the Control Freak Swappers!

Dinnblogtour I have been a member of the CONTROL FREAK SWAP GROUP for many, many years.. we are a diverse group of stampers from all over the U.S and Canada. We swap about 5 or 6 times  a year and are hosted by Lisa Martz - hostess extraordinaire!  :)

Julie Dinn organized a BLOG TOUR for all of us to join on the 20th of each month...  I hope you'll come along on the tour on the 20th of July and August too!

This month we are showcasing samples with RETIRING stamps and/or accessories.  After viewing my samples, please click on the button at the bottom that says CLICK HERE FOR THE NEXT STOP ON THE BLOG TOUR :)

Here are my 2 submissions for RETIRING STAMP SET SAMPLES:

I decorated a "box die #2" box (cut out with the Big Shot) using the retiring set called BIG FLOWERS(pg 122).  I also used Pink Flamingo DSP and red grosgrain ribbon and a little sneak peek touch of the Crushed Curry polkadot ribbon.  I filled it with some yummies... English Toffee! :)  YUM!

My 2nd submission is one of my favorite little card designs.. a 3x6 open end envelope folded and decorated with a 3x3 card inside.  The retiring set I used for this one is the SAY IT WITH SCALLOPS set (Ronald McDonald House charity set), pg 209.

"Look Here" Pop Up die - NEW from Stampin' Up!

I had fun with this new Pop Up 3-D Die from Stampin' Up!!  It's called "Look Here" - because the arrows all point to the center... ya know... "look HERE"! :)  It is a new item we can PRE ORDER as demonstrators this month, and is in the NEW Stampin' UP! catalog that will be released to customers on July 1.   Do you have YOUR catalog reserved yet??  If not, click HERE.

This is supposed to hold a gift card but when I saw it I immediately thought of photos.. so that's what I did with it.

Here is our graduate and his friends at Graduation last Saturday.  Colors used: Bravo Burgundy and Crushed Curry.

I ran one Crushed Curry cardstock piece through the Big Shot with the Look Here die and used that as the base of the pop up part, then ran a sheet of Bravo Burgundy cardstock through the Big Shot with the Look Here die and used some of those arrows to decorate the inside.   The folded card (4-1/4"x5-1/2") is Bravo Burgundy.

I see lots of fun potential for this die... think outside the box!!
