iCraft Class - Day 3

What a wonderful week this has been!  Many of you have asked for more details about this "iCraft Class" I've been teaching.. this is a private Christian school and every January they get to take a one week course the week after finals.. this week is called Intersession.  Students can pick classes such as robotics, animation, cooking, flying lessons (yes, my son did that one year!), drivers ed., trips all over the US and abroad, and this year I offered the crafting class.  Students pay extra for this week.. it is not included in the monthly tuition. I did not charge them full price for the supplies and I did not charge at all for my time.  This was my gift to the students and the school.

Below are the projects we did on Day 3.  I'll be blogging Day 4 and 5 soon!

Day 3 - Project 1: Summer Days Journal (see here for my previous post with some instructions for this project). They enjoyed learning how to use the Bind It All for this project!

I LOVE how they used the Big Shot and the alphabet dies to add words to their books!!

And look at these wonderful pages.. I LOVE how she used the "negative"space of this sticker!!

After we finished our books, we worked on a service project...

Day 3 - Project 2: Candy goodie bags for the local Senior Living Center - more on that tomorrow.

We decorated and filled 150 bags ... more details tomorrow.

then... Day 3 - Project 3:  I taught them how to do this fold.. if you are a demonstrator, you'll find it on the Stampin' Up! demo website under the Sale a Bration Workshop Wizard projects.

The gals thought this would make a fun cell phone holder! :)

One of my clever gals made adorable door hanger this using some of the supplies we had out:

and in closing for today... I've had "purse envy" all week!!!!  :)  I have LOVED their purses!  Time to GO SHOPPING!

iCraft Class - Day 1

I have been having the BEST time this week - I've been teaching the iCraft Class at my son's High School... I have 10 WONDERFUL young ladies in my class and an excellent teacher who is helping me.  We have been having a GREAT week, and I will be sharing our projects with you over the next few days!

Day 1 - Project 1: we started with this fun "bag tag" made from chipboard and Designer Paper, personalized with their initial.  They LOVED using the Big Shot for this project!

Inspiration for this project came from a darling gift I received at Leadership from Allison Barber. Thanks, Allison!!

Here are my 4 Senior girls:

Day 1 - Project 2: we made these "flip out albums" using a retired SS kit with a FRIEND theme.. perfect for photos of all their friends!

I'll be teaching this flip out album in an upcoming class, and will post instructions after that.

Box Die from Stampin' Up!

ScreenHunter_11 Jan. 22 09.09I just love the new Box Die from Stampin' Up! (pg 194)  I used it with my BIG SHOT and had WAY too much fun creating little boxes!!!

Here are 2 of the finished boxes I made:

Box 2 boxes

ScreenHunter_17 Jan. 25 18.02 I can't get enough of these new adorable Corduroy Buttons!!!  (have you joined my button club yet? You'll get one of each of the new buttons, brads and clips - 44 pieces for only $16 mailed to you!)

Here is what the cardstock looks like after you cut it out with the box die and the Big Shot:

Box 2 die

It's super easy to put together.. all you need is one SMALL piece of Sticky Strip on the little "bump out" on the very right of the die cut above, then you fold on all the score lines and voila.. a cute little box! You can use Designer Series Paper, or Cardstock or, for an even sturdier box, use our new cardstock weight DSP: Rockabilly, Parisian Breeze, To the Nines or Sweet Slumber (all on pg 158).

For the pink one, I decied to see what it would be like to give the lid a little liner:

Box 2 die w liner

Here are the measurements I used for the liner piece:

I'm teaching a stamping class ALL week at my son's High School this week.. so stay tuned for all the FUN projects we are working on!

Big Shot Texturz Plates - part 2

finished card - it also features the new polka dot ribbon, the new 'LOTS OF TAGS' die, and the fun flower brads and the Sweet Nothings SS kit:

DSC05411 copy

Until I can get a video on line, many have asked the following questions, so let me answer here:

The Texturz plates are roughly the same size as the Multi Purpose Platform, so that gives you a rough idea of the size.. they are nice and big!

You also need the 2 pads listed on pg 203, in addition to the Multi Purpose Platform (the Impressions Pad and the Silicone rubber pad) to make the "sandwich" to roll through the Big Shot.

To get a better impression (deeper embossed image) I used 2 or 3 sheets of cardstock UNDER my texturz plate like a shim, (those don't get embossed) and then made the "sandwich" per the instructions on the multi purpose platform.  This gives a deeper embossed image. Without that extra thickness in your sandwich, the impression is actually quite faint.  Of course, this gives you that option too!

I'm teaching all week at my son's school, so when I have time to come up for air I'll get some new videos on line for you!

Can you see the small raised polkadots on the Riding Hood Red cardstock?  It's not terribly easy to phtoograph them..

Thanks a Bunch - Bella Birds DSP

Here is another sample using the new DSP from Stampin' Up! called Bella Birds. This paper is gorgeous!  If you are looking for something elegant this is it!

The stamp is from a new Hostess set. I colored it with Chocolate Chip and Brocade Blue markers. The card is a 4x4 card.  The scallop is from the Pennant Die (Big Shot die) and the circle is the larger 1-3/4" circle punch.

Thanks a bunch

When making 4x4 cards with a Simply Scrappin' Kit.. here's a tip for you... cut your strip of border pieces from the kit into a 4" segment:

THEN... when you are ready to add the decorative sticky strips to your card, they are the perfect length!

Leadership Swap #2 - Good Morning Sunshine DSP

Here is some VERY FUN New DSP in the new Stampin' Up! catalog, called GOOD MORNING SUNSHINE!

This is one of my Leadership 2009 swaps that I'll be swapping today in Orlando!

Isn't this paper too cute?  I stamped the birdies from the Love You Much bundle to go with this fun new paper!

Birds pacific point

I used a folded Top Note die as a basis for this card and then covered the front with another Top Note die cut out, so that you don't see the fold.

Birds fold

See THIS POST for another similar card design and more instructions.

Ink, ribbon and cardstock are all Pacific Point by Stampin' Up!  I also used blender pens to color the birds a bit.
