Celebrate Your Day Card!

Have you tried out the Stampin' UP! Sponge Brayers yet?  I've used them on lots of backgrounds for my cards recently and I'm so thrilled with them!!!  Find these great crafting tools on page 180 in the 2016 Stampin' UP! catalog or HERE in my online store.

Use the new Sponge Brayers from Stampin' UP! to beautifully color the Irresistibly Floral paper! Products available at pattystamps.com

To achieve these beautiful, soft results, ink the sponge brayer by rolling it a few times on your Stampin' UP! ink pad then roll it on the Irresistibly Floral paper which already had white glossy patterns on each sheet, and the glossy pattern RESISTS the ink!!  It's like magic!!  Be sure to buff off any excess color with a tissue or paper towel after adding the ink.

I had to ink and apply the ink to the paper about 2 or 3 times, fading out to the right to get lighter results on the right side and darker results on the left.

Anniversary Celebration and the Mystery Cruise Ship

I have a funny story for you today... a little break from stamping.

It's a rare occurrence that I take time off of my Stampin' Up! business... in fact so rare that we really didn't get to celebrate Mother's day or my birthday in May as we had planned.. so we made a point to take an afternoon off in June and we celebrated those 2 occasions as well as our 30th wedding anniversary at one of my favorite spots, the Spinnaker Restaurant in Sausalito, CA.

Spinnaker restaurant overlooking the San Francisco Bay, California

This lovely restaurant is on pilings out over the San Francisco bay and has a 360 degree view of Sausalito, Angel Island, Belvedere, Tiburon and San Francisco.

It's one of "those" restaurants where they have a valet to park your car... not the kind of place we go to very often, (but the kind of place I'd love to frequent more often!).

As soon as we were seated for our late lunch at a window seat, we looked out across the San Francisco Bay toward San Francisco, and this was our view.. a little hazy/foggy, but I'm sure you can make out a bit of the city:

San Francisco Bay from the Spinnaker restaurant, Sausalito California

Alcatraz is just on the left, partially behind that sailboat, and the Golden Gate bridge would be off to the right.

Then this conversation happened between our son Jason, and me:

Jason: "Oh, there is a cruise ship in port!"

Me: squinting.... squinting some more.. raising my eyebrow ... "there is?"

Jason: "Yes, it looks like a Princess Ship"

Me:  "Ok, I seriously cannot see a cruise ship in port and sure as heck couldn't tell you it's a Princess ship"

Jason:  "Ya, it has the white arch thing in the back, so I know it's a Princess Ship"

Now, I ask you ... am I just blind? or can you see it too?  I've even circled it below for you .. (no, not the little sailboat)... and yes, there actually is a Princess ship docked in port at San Francisco, I looked it up on the internet and it was the Grand Princess!

FACT:  Jason has AMAZING eyesight

FACT:  I don't.

There were tons of tourists in Sausalito that day who had taken the ferry over to Sausalito from SF for the day.. shopping, eating, bicycling, .. it was crowded but delightful!  Perfect weather, amazing views and the best company in the world (my guys!) :)

Eric and Patty Bennett celebrating 30 years at the Spinnaker restaurant, Sausalito, CA

Eric and I each enjoyed delicious seafood plates for our lunch.. Jason had a burger (big news there!), and we shared this delightful berry dessert after lunch!

We walked for a few miles after that amazing lunch and enjoyed the sights in Sausalito.

Oh, and on our 30th anniversary, it was "bowling night" (league night for Eric and Jason) so between work and bowling, we met for a quick dinner at Caps in Brentwood, exchanged our cards to each other, and then I went along to cheer Jason and Eric in their summer bowling league.

If you missed the 30th anniversary card I made for Eric, you can see it HERE.

Hope you enjoyed that little vacation from stamping.  Hope this finds you well, and that your day is great!

Sneak Peek! Thoughtful Branches bundle!

Sneak Peek! Put this on your shopping list for August!

I'm so excited about this wonderful new Thoughtful Branches bundle that will be available from Stampin' Up! for customers beginning August 2nd (while supplies last)!!

And don't forget, you can get $5 off, $10 off, $15 off (or more) depending on how many $5 Bonus Days coupons you have from your Stampin' UP! orders in July!!! (read more HERE).

In my stamped sample today, I created a card using the Jar of Love stamp set and the new Thoughtful Branches stamp set.

Jar of Love and Thoughtful Branches stamped card featuring Stampin' Up! bundles by Patty Bennett, www.PattyStamps.com

This gorgeous color combo of Elegant Eggplant, Garden Green, Soft Suede and Pool Party is just so soothing, rich and comforting!!  I love it!

I created this card when I stamped with my sweet friend Cindee and she suggested using Basic Gray for the jar instead of black, and I love how it looks!  After I finished my jar, flowers, stems and greeting, I decided that my jar was "floating" on the card, so, I masked the bottom of the jar with a Post-It note, and stamped the Timeless Textures image in Crumb Cake to give the jar somewhere to "sit".

Stampin UP! color combo for the Jar of Love / Thoughtful Branches card by Patty Bennett

I thought we used Garden Green cardstock, but I know we used Wild Wasabi ink... either one is a great pairing with Elegant Eggplant!

Did you see my hydrangea card featuring this Thoughtful Branches Bundle? click here!

The bundle features a 20+  piece stamp set and 9 dies in the framelit set!  This will be a limited time offer set in August, starting Aug. 2nd while supplies last.. so be sure to add this to your August shopping list! :)  Click to download a .pdf showing this great bundle!  Download Thoughtfulbranches-bundle-stampin-up-pattystamps

I'd order this on August 2nd if I were you. :)

Baby Bear with Balloons Z-Fold Card

I am guessing you recognize this Stampin' Up! Baby Bear card from my Z Fold Video tutorial blog post last week.  I love the fun bright, cheery colors and bold polkadot patterns in this fun greeting card!  I handstamped Baby Bear and his bow, and punched out the balloons from the Balloon Bouquet punch!

Baby Bear Z Fold card featuring Stampin' UP! Balloon Bouquet punch, stamp sets, ink and paper by Patty Bennett at pattystamps.com

The great, fun, bold polkadot patterned paper is from the big Designer Series Paper Stacks on page 174 in the current Stampin' Up! catalog.  I used both the Regals Collection and the 2015-2017 In Color Collection.  The cardstock base is Crushed Curry, and the accent mat layer is Watermelon Wonder.

Find Baby Bear on page 61 in the new 2016 Stampin' Up! Catalog or here in my online store

The Balloon Bouquet punch was new in the last Occasions catalog, and is also in this catalog, on page 187 or here online.

Baby Bear Z Fold card featuring Stampin' UP! Balloon Bouquet punch, stamp sets, ink and paper by Patty Bennett at pattystamps.com

Baby Bear is a 3-step stamping set.  There are 3 layers that make up the image.  I stamped the darkest image in Early Espresso and both of the other lighter images with Crumb Cake ink, stamping the lightest one off on scratch paper first.

The bow is stamped in Watermelon Wonder ink, as well as the sweet greeting.  You'll find this sweet greeting in the Love & Affection stamp set, pg 45, #141545.

The adorable buttons and heart are enamel Shapes from the Brights collection package #141680.

Pop of Paradise Flamingo Card with pops of Gold

Shimmery Gold accents are REALLY hard to photograph... but, trust me, this Flamingo card has its share of fun shiny Gold accents all over it!!  The Pop of Paradise stamp set flamingo is the focal point of this Stampin' UP! card, but the gold accents make it pop!

Pop of Paradise Stampin' Up! Flamingo card with gold doily and gold metallic shape accents - designed by Cindee, stamped by Patty Bennett

Cindee Designed this card for us to make at one of our stamping days at her house, and I added the die cut flowers to the card as my creative contribution!  We decided to play up the fun gold polkadots and add gold Metallic Enamel Shape dots to the flower centers, and a gold enamel shape heart to the "hello" greeting.

Add Gold Metallic enamel shapes to the center of die cut or punched flowers for a pop of glitz and glam! Pop of Paradise flamingo Stampin' Up! Card.

After die cutting the little flowers with Watermelon Wonder and Flirty Flamingo cardstock and the Cutie Pie thinlits die and the Bloomin Heart Thinlit die, we sponged them with Watermelon Wonder ink and they really pop off the card!

Die cut flowers with Stampin' UP! Bloomin Heart thinlits or Cutie Pie Thinlits and then sponge with dauber and ink for dimension.

Pop of Paradise Stampin' Up! Flamingo card with gold doily and gold metallic shape accents - designed by Cindee, stamped by Patty Bennett

Oh, and then I had another creative idea for this card... I die cut a strip of the scallops from the Popcorn Box thinlits, and cut it apart, then pieced it onto the back of the black and white striped Pop of Pink paper.  That really gave a fun colorful accent to this playful card!

Die cut the Scallop from the Popcorn Box thinlits and add to your handmade card for a little pop of fun color. Stampin Up! supplies available at pattystamps.com

If you haven't seen the Metallic Enamel Shapes in the catalog yet, find them on pg 177 with the other enamel shapes.  All of these products may be purchased in my online store by clicking any of the product photos at the bottom of this blog post.

The Metallic Foil Gold doily is a great accent around the punched out hello greeting!

The tropical leaves on the Crumb Cake card can either be stamped with your Versamark ink pad or the Crumb Cake ink pad for a watermark look.
